Mandi Bahauddin(Sher Gondal) : Politics can be played as long as there is a state; if no state then there is no politics, said Chairman Human Rights Movement M Nasir Iqbal when talking to media persons here the other day.
He said ISPR press release was just to remind the incumbent government for its poor governance and there was no mala fides of army linked to the PR.
Making this PR as base for launching propaganda against army is not a wise step on the part of few politicians. Political players come and go but these are the institutions who keep the state functioning. Persons who render sacrifices and those who indulge in corrupt practices can’t be equal in the eyes of public. Public always stand with those who do their job with honesty, dedication and sacrifice, he added.
He said army officers and Jawans had been fighting war of terror and embracing martyrdom, many among them have lost limbs and lead miserable life as handicapped. On the other side what sacrifice politicians and those who criticize army has given for the country except enjoying comfortable corrupt life on the cost of public? He asked. Army request for improving governance is not a violation of constitution, he maintained, adding that this rather shows their concern over deteriorating government performance. It is regretted that politicians have not learnt a lesson from the past events and still lack patience and wisdom to run state affairs.
He said corruption of government and rulers is discussed among public as a routine. People love armed forces for their loyalty to homeland and achievements in war against terrorism and above 80% of them were unhappy over MNAs statements made by them over the ISPR PR. The remaining 20% are with government being beneficiary of their corrupt practices. He urged the rulers to improve performance as to bring it at a level to match with progress of armed forces in the battle and other fields like rehabilitation of calamities hit people.
