Lahore: Provincial Minister for Excise & Taxation Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman has said that extracurricular activities create confidence, courage and spirit of marching forward. He said that government is promoting extracurricular activities among the youth which will help in achieving the goal of development of the country.
He said this while addressing the students as chief guest at the concluding ceremony of 6th Interschool and Inter Colleges Games 2015 at Punjab stadium today. President Punjab Olympic Association Iftikhar Ahmed Malik, teachers and a large number of male and female students of schools and colleges obtaining first, second and third positions attended the function. The students also displayed various games and China ribbon dance.
The Provincial Minister gave trophy to Punjab Group of Colleges on getting first position by securing 1936 points, Government College University on second position by securing 1883 points while Superior College on third position securing 640 points. Similarly, among women colleges, trophy was also given to Lahore College University for Women getting first position by securing 1093 points, Kinnaird College on getting second position by securing 772 points whereas Government Girls College Cantt on getting third position by securing 303 points. At school level trophy was given to DPS school on getting first position by securing 1140 points, CT School Guru Mangat on getting second position by securing 699 points and Don Basco School on getting third position by securing 290 points where best performance trophy was given to Unique School.
Later, Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman also distributed cash prizes among best players of Interschool and Inter-Collages Game 2015. Talking to media-men on the occasion, the Provincial Minister said that government arranges various events of healthy activities every year for the male and female students so that our children should win laurels for the country. He said that government has allocated huge amount for promotion of games which create confidence and courage among the children through these healthy activities.
