RPOs review security arrangements for the second phase of local bodies election

IGP Mushtaq Sukhera is chairing RPO conferenceLahore: In order to finalize the security strategy at the second phase of local bodies election and to review the overall crime situation in the province, a video link RPO Conference held here today at Central Police Office, Lahore under the chairmanship of Inspector General of Police Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera.

All RPOs, CCPO Lahore attended the meeting, whereas, all DPOs were present through video link. Addl: IGP Welfare and Finance, Sohail Khan, Addl: IGP Operations, Capt. (R) Arif Nawaz, Addl: IGP PHP Dr. Arif Mushtaq, Addl: IGP Training, Capt. (R) Usman Khattak, Addl: IGP CTD, Rai Muhammad Tahir, Addl: IGP SPU, Muhammad Tahir, Addl: IGP Special Branch Punjab, Faisal Shahkar, DIG Headquarters, Farooq Mazhar, DIG Investigation Branch, Shafique Ahmad Gujjar, DIG Establishment-I, Azhar Hameed Khokhar, DIG Establishment-II, Nawaz Warraich, DIG Telecommunication, Tariq Rustam Chauhan, AIG Finance, Hussain Habib Imtiaz, AIG Logistics, Hamayun Bashir Tarar and other senior police officers were also present in the conference.

During the conference, IGP directed the field officers to utilize all out sources for the arrangement of bullet less and violence free elections in 12 districts including Gujranwala, Sheikhupura, Hafizabad, M.B. Din, Attock, Jhelum, Sargodha, Mianwali, T.T. Singh, Chiniot, Khanewal and Sahiwal. It was also decided in the conference that there will be zero tolerance in case of display of arms and carrying them at the polling stations. The conference also decided that the police will remain impartial and neutral during these elections.

As many as, 104204 police officers / officials will remain on security duty at 11862 polling stations. All polling stations were divided into three categories A+, A and B. The deployed force will be included 5410 for post polling duties, 14693 for patrolling duties and 84101 for polling station duties. These officers / officials included 50606 of police, 14937 of PQR and 38661 of Special Police. Whereas, 44 companies of Army and 6 companies of Rangers will remain on standby position in case of any untoward situation.

It was also decided in the conference that no parliamentarian and candidate will be allowed to enter in polling station with his private gunman. No group and gathering will be allowed except voters to enter in polling stations at the distance of 300 meters.

The conference also decided that victory rallies and processions will not be allowed and strict action will be taken against those who founded to violate this code of conduct. In the second phase of elections it was also decided that to ensure the security during post elections activities the 2nd shift will be deployed from 4:00 p.m.

While reviewing the overall crime situation of the province, it was decided to further minimize the car theft, identification of car theft receivers must be ensured in bordering districts. The conference also decided to stop all kind of forgery and tempering in recruitments, transfers and postings, the maintenance of complete service record of all officials will be kept in double lock like banks. All field officers were directed to submit a certificate to CPO by the end of this month having declaration about the authenticity of the service records of all officials in their respective regions and districts.

A decision to issue an ATM cards to facilitate the widows and children of the police officials to get their scholarships and pensions without any problem. For the purpose all field officers will be bound to submit the data regarding these widows to the CPO office by the end of this month.
