Pervaiz Rasheed attends inauguration of Belarusian Information and Culture centre

inauguration of Belarusian Information and Culture centreLahore: Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid Wednesday said, in this age of knowledge based economy, the socio-economic and humanitarian development were possible through sharing information.

The minister was delivering a welcome speech on the occasion of the inauguration of Belarusian Information and Culture centre. Belarus Prime Minister Andrey Kobyakov inaugurated the center here at National Library.

The minister said the establishment of this centre initiated the process of implementation of the roadmap of Belarusian-Pakistani Humanitarian Cooperation Agreement signed between the two countries that demonstrated the seriousness of both the countries in expanding and strengthening their relations.

He said Pakistan values its relations with Belarus and both countries enjoy a warm and cordial relationship.

He reiterated that the government of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was keen to further expand and enhance the relations between the two countries for the benefit of the two peoples and forging closer relations between them.

He said he was confident that recent exchanges between the countries would further enhance interactions and widen mutual relations in future. “We are grateful to the government of Belarus for facilitating and opening access to all the material available with National Library of Belarus on various subjects including science, education, culture on line.”

He said this will provide an opportunity to our academia, students, intellectuals, researchers and scholars to access material available with the National Library of Belarus free of cost and without traveling to Belarus.

The inauguration of this centre heralds the beginning of libraries beyond borders by benefiting from the concept of virtual reading.

The minister appreciated the members of the advance delegation of the National Library of Belarus who have worked round the clock for the past few days to set up this centre and make this happen.
