Additional taxes to the tune of Rs. 40 billion would crush the masses: Liaqat Baloch

Lahore: Secretary General, Jamaat e Islami, Liaqat Baloch, has said that the additional taxes to the tune of Rs. 40 billion would crush the masses.

Addressing a party meeting in the city on Wednesday, he said that during the last 18 months,the government loans from within the country and abroad had risen almost three times. He said that the energy, oil and gas crises besides inflation had deteriorated the national economy.

He said that as long as the government did not end unnecessary spending and privileges of the rulers and the bureaucracy, the country would be forced to beg for foreign loans.

Liaqat Baloch said that the opposition parties were supposed to present a unified stance on national issues but the situation was different in this country. The differences of the opposition parties were a blessing for the ruling party. He said that the differences of the religious parties had emboldened the secular lobby and the lovers of the western and Hindu culture, he added.

He said that the opposition and the religious parties would have to prepare a national agenda on the political front and a religious charter for the promotion of the Islamic culture.
