The poor can only window shopping at Landa Bazars due to price hike

Mandi Bahauddin(Sher Ali): With the onset of cold weather, rush of customers in Landa bazaars located at different places in Mandi city has increased but most of them are able to do only window shopping due high prices. Stalls of second hand clothes, shoes and other items have been set up on the ground.

The poor especially labourers, gypsies and other persons with low income were busy in purchasing used items to protect them and their children from cold. The customers when asked said the prices of old clothes are higher than the expectations. Besides, they complained that items were not in satisfactory condition. They said the prices of new warm clothes were beyond their purchasing power.

Therefore, they said, they were forced to purchase clothes from Landa bazaars. However, the stallholders said that good items were kept behind by big shopkeepers who sold them on double prices on the contention that these items were imported. “They sell us leftover stuff,” they added.
