Mandi Bahauddin(Sher Gondal) : Major (retd) Ejaz Shahid has said Chief of Army Staff Gen Raheel Sharif has remarked that there is need for improvement in governance. He had to say it when he saw that all the civilian institutions including the judiciary are not keeping in step with the Army to rid the nation of the menace of terrorism and corruption.

While the Army officers and men are facing the bullets of the terrorists, braving the hazards of weather and terrain in combat zone to make the people secure, the other institutions are making merry and takings things in normal fashion. The government has adopted a go slow approach and is least interested in catching the big fish in Sindh or elsewhere.

Talking about accountability he said NAB is still not getting assertive. Policy of national reconciliation pursued by PPP is still in operation which means, you scratch my back and I yours. If this lackadaisical approach continues, it is feared that all the sacrifices of the Army will go waste and ultimately the blame will come on the Army. He further said some voices are already being heard against the army operation against criminals and militants. Time is not far when the propaganda brigade will once again get activated to malign the image of the army.

Implementation of 20 points of National Action Plan is painfully slow. Military courts are hardly functioning and so are special courts. There is something wrong somewhere. Political expediency at the cost of national interests will prove fatal for the country. Karachi operation must be taken to its logical conclusion. Now is the time that people of Pakistan take the ownership of the efforts of the Army, he concluded.
