Lahore: DIG Operations Dr. Haider Ashraf has said that before local bodies’ elections, crackdown is continuing against illegal arms in the city and Lahore police recovered a large number of weapons during last 24 hours in the city.
According to details, the illegal arms recovered include 18 kalashankofs, 40 pump actions, 16 rifles, 19 guns, four revolvers and 70 pistols. On this occasion, DIG Operations said that all divisional SPs have been directed to launch crackdown against the miscreants and troublemakers before polling day of local bodies’ elections and start a campaign against illegal arms.
He said that crackdown against illegal arms has yielded best results and a large number of weapons have been recovered. He said the crackdown against illegal arms will be continued till polling day and all the candidates and workers of political parties are directed that no aerial firing or displaying of weapons will be tolerated on polling day and strict action will be taken against those taking law into their hand.
