Secretary Social Welfare meets the representatives of Pakistan Blind Association

Provincial Secretary Social Welfare Haroon RafiqueLahore: Provincial Secretary Social Welfare Haroon Rafique during a meeting with the representatives of Pakistan Blind Association said that the department is resolving problems of blind persons on priority basis. He said that the process of recruitment has been started at three percent quota allocated for disabled persons throughout the province.

Secretary Social Welfare said that 1717 posts had been advertised for special persons by the district administration this year, out of which, 600 seats have been filled in while process is continuing on the remaining seats. Haroon Rafique told the representatives that 25 thousand blind persons have been registered with Social Welfare Department so far. He said that a team of doctors has been constituted for confirmation of nature of disability after that process of recruitment at suitable post will be expedited.

Representatives of Blind Association expressed their satisfaction over the steps taken by the department and requested more steps, upon which, the Secretary assured that these steps of Punjab government for rehabilitation of disabled persons is a beginning and it will take more steps for their welfare.
