Speaker National Assembly should be elected unanimously: Ch Shujaat Hussain

Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League (PML) President and former Prime Minister Ch Shujaat Hussain has said that the office of the National Assembly Speaker is of great importance, if he is elected unanimously then he should not be seen as representative of any party, in this regard all parliamentary parties would be taken into confidence. The Speaker so elected can work with confidence, he emphasized.

Talking to party leaders at his residence here today, Ch Shujaat Hussain said that this office be above party politics so that all assembly members have confidence in him. He said for running the House successfully the Speaker should have patience and tolerance and give all members appropriate time so that they could talk about their constituencies and national issues openly.

He said that in the country’s history, office of the NA Speaker is of great importance, his decisions make history as such it will be better if the NA Speaker is elected after consulting all the parliamentary parties.
