Lahore: Provincial Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan has said that media can change the society in days provided it plays its role with responsibility. He said that Pakistani media is playing an important role in the reformation of the society. He said that the services of Pakistani media for raising voice of the people along with highlighting people-friendly steps and public welfare policies of the government are laudable.
He expressed these views while addressing launching ceremony of Electronic Media Producers Rights Association (EMPRA) at a local hotel, here today.
Governor Punjab, office-bearers of journalist organizations and a large number of producers of electronic media were present on the occasion.
Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan said that as fourth pillar of the state, the role of media is of paramount importance in the politics of the country and determining the direction of the government. He said that our country is passing through a critical juncture of history and we are facing a number of problems including terrorism, extremism, unemployment and law and order.
He said that we will have to pay attention to improve the image of the country abroad and restoring the respect and dignity of Pakistan in the comity of nations. He said our media can play a very positive role in all these matters provided it plays its role with a sense of responsibility. He said that the criticism of media against the government should be constructive. He said that besides criticism, media-men should also highlight the steps taken by the government for the welfare of the people.
Rana Mashhood said that the balanced attitude of media will not only be helpful for media itself but for the government to move forward.
