Asian Chess Champion Mahmood Ahmed Lodhi calls on DG SBP Usman AnwarLahore: The role of Director General Sports Punjab Usman Anwar has been quite distinctive in the promotion of sports across the country; these compliments were given by Pakistan chess star Mahmood Ahmed Lodhi during a meeting with DG SBP Usman Anwar at National Hockey Stadium on Wednesday.

DG SBP Usman Anwar congratulated Mahmood Lodhi for winning the 6th edition of Asian Chess Championship in Larestan, Iran. In his greeting message, Usman Anwar said that Sports Board Punjab (SBP) will continue to encourage Pakistan heroes and will do every possible effort for the growth of sports in the country. “The heroes like Mahmood Lodhi are the real asset of the country and Sports Board Punjab always honoured national sports stars to the maximum,” he added. Usman Anwar expressed his hope that Lodhi will continue his title winning performance in future.

54-year-old Lodhi, who won 14 national chess titles, acknowledged the supportive role of DG SBP Usman Anwar saying that credit of his Asian Chess title victory goes to DG SBP. “I have played chess in all parts of the country but found Sports Board Punjab above all provincial bodies when it comes to promotion of sports and wellbeing of players,” he maintained.
