Lahore: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan Saturday said talks with Baloch nationalist leaders living abroad were in progress which would hopefully bear fruits. “We have initiated the dialogue process with political forces in the province, including nationalists living abroad, and the results are encouraging,” he said while addressing a press conference along with Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch here.
He, however, added that sectarian forces would be dealt with sternly.The minister said peace had been restored in the country as compared to 2013 when five to seven bomb blasts occurred every day.
“Without peace, we cannot make development and without development,we cannot eliminate poverty,” he added.
He said that Pakistan was a major military power and “now we are going to become a big economic power.”
Chaudhry Nisar said criticizing security forces in assemblies was not a good tradition. Complaints against law enforcement agencies, if any, should be referred to the authorities concerned, including the
Interior Ministry, he stressed.
He also asked the personnel of law enforcement agencies to win the hearts of the people of Balochistan by dealing with them very politely.
Replying to a question, he said that Pakistan had handed over to the United Nations Secretary General documented evidences and proofs of enemy’s involvement in terrorism in Balochistan, Karachi and Federally Administered Tribal Areas.”We will also share these evidences with different countries,” he
added.
The minister said that Balochistan would be the major beneficiary of Pak-China Economic Corridor which would bring progress and prosperity in the region. “The province is going to become a hub of international trade.”
Answering another question, Chaudhry Nisar said there were no differences between the civil and military leaderships. “Both are on the same page regarding the war on terror. Their good relations
at present are exemplary during the last 30 years.” He urged the Iranian officials to avoid firing and shelling into the Pakistani territory. “The officials of the two countries should better jointly resolve cross-border issues,” he added.
Referring to the passing-out parade of 3,682 recruits of Frontier Corps in Loralai, the minister said 4,000 more youth, mostly from Balochistan, would be recruited in FC Balochistan.
To a query regarding by-elections in Lahore, he said voters would decide the fate of candidates. “Politics should be devoid of abusive culture,” he added.
Balochistan Home Secretary Cap. (retd) Akbar Hussain Durrani,Inspector General of Police Muhammad Amlish and senior provincial officials were also present on the occasion.
