Second phase of Scrutiny of nomination papers for LG election is completed

Mandi Bahauddin(Sher Gondal): Scrutiny of nomination papers of candidates for Local Government election second phase is completed .

527 joint nomination papers from candidates for Chairman and vice Chairman union council were filed with respective returning officers.

490 out of them were accepted being correct while 37 were rejected on various technical grounds. There are eighty seats for chairman and vice chairman and each union council will have six seats for general councilor. 1392 candidates filed nomination papers for Union Council general councilor seat and among them 1150 were accepted while 242 were rejected.

Similarly 173 candidates filed their nomination papers for election of Mandi Bahauddin Municipal Committee general councilor seat. 139 nomination papers were found correct for acceptance while 12 were rejected. Phalia MC has 33 general councilor seats for which 89 candidate filed nomination papers out of them 12 were rejected and 87 were accepted.

83 candidates submitted nomination papers against 12 seats of general councilors of Malakwal MC and out of them 79 were admitted and 4 were turned down on technical grounds. Candidates having reservation over their rejection of papers have right to appeal in appellate court established at Mandi Bahauddin, Phalia and Malakwal up to 6 Oct.
