The transporters to remove bodies of trucks over than the prescribed standard: Secretary Transport

Lahore: Secretary Transport Shaukat Khan has said that a campaign has been launched against overloading under Motor Vehicle Rules 216 throughout the province. He said that RTAs of all districts have been directed to fully implement Rules 216 and take strict action against violators.

He said this while presiding over a meeting, here today. Other officers attended the meeting. The meeting was told that a ban has been imposed on loading of more than 10 tons goods on one excel trucks and only six tons goods will be loaded on one excel trucks. He said that not only route permits of violators will be cancelled but expenses of repair of roads will also be recovered.

Secretary Transport told that important roads are ruining due to overloading and accidents have also increased. He said that Transport Department has started campaign against overloading which will be implemented strictly. He said that squads have been constituted in all districts for taking action against such transporters without any fear.

Shaukat Khan told that heavy fine will be imposed on violation for the first time while route permits will be cancelled on violation of laws at second and third times. He directed the transporters to immediately remove bodies of trucks over than the prescribed standard.
