Mandi Bahauddin( Sher Gondal) : Decision of The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to halt implementation of Kisan Package has been received among farmers with dismay.
Expressing his anger, President Kisan Welfare Council Maher Gulzar Advocate said Government in response to demands and repeated protest of famers for relief announced Rs5000 per acre to the extent of 12.5 acres as compensation, 2% deduction in rate of interest for rice and cotton growers and increment of production units from 2000 to 4000.
Faisal Ranjha, Qaiser Imran, Rahila Khanam, Sajid Nadim and Mazur Tarar Advocate were also present on this occasion. He said local administration carried out and completed survey of the land under cultivation and when stage reached disbursement of relief amount, ECP came down with heavy hand and stopped implementation of the package.
He said this decision of the ECP is against the interest farmers who already are ignored by rulers. He demanded of setting aside this decision and restoring implementation of the package.
To a question he said PTI Chief Imran Khan did not know woes of Kisans. He is only interested to get into power and with this purpose in front, some time back he announced to support traders over the issue of withholding tax. But when Kisan relief package was announced, he turned upset and created hurdle in its implementation under the plea that it was in violation of election rules. He said farmers all over Punjab had condemned PTI for opposing implementation of Kisan package.
