Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif presided over a high level meeting in which matters regarding setting up a gas-based powerhouse in Bhiki, Sheikhupura were discussed.
Addressing the meeting, Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that sincere efforts are being made under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif for the elimination of load-shedding and planning has been made for setting up 3600 megawatts gas-based energy projects. He said that Punjab government will set up a gas-based energy project of 1200 megawatts while federal government will set up similar projects of 2400 megawatts. He said that all out measures are being taken for controlling energy crisis and power projects are being implemented transparently and speedily while a high standard is also being maintained.
The Chief Minister said that the process of acquisition of land for gas power projects and other issues will be settled expeditiously. He said that every moment is precious and energy projects will be implemented without wasting any time. He said that wind corridors for generation of power have also been identified in the province.
Provincial Finance Minister Dr. Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, Presidents of National Bank, Habib Bank and Bank of Punjab, Shaukat Tarin, Additional Chief Secretary Energy, Chairman Punjab Power Development Company and Chief Executive Officer Quaid-e-Azam Thermal Power Limited were present the meeting.
