Lahore: Chief Secretary Punjab Khizar Hayat Gondal has directed all district coordination officers (DCOs) to enforce guidelines issued by the Punjab government regarding anti-dengue spray, saying that the spray can only be carried out after getting written permission from district health department.
He was addressing a meeting of DCOs through video link at DCO Office Jehlum on Saturday. Provincial Minister Rana Mashood Ahmad Khan, Advisor on Health Khawaja Salman Rafique, local parliamentarians, Health Secretary Jawad Rafique Malik and other officers were also present.
The Chief Secretary said that stern action will be taken against those responsible for the incident occurred due to spray in Government Girls High School Domeli Jehlum. He said that the Punjab government took exemplary steps for dengue control and Punjab government’s achievements in this regard were acknowledged throughout the world.
The Chief Secretary directed that the guidelines for carrying out dengue spray be conveyed to all departments and strict implementation of these instructions be ensured. He said that there is a need to enhance awareness regarding dengue and collective efforts are required for eradication of this disease once and for all.
Earlier, the Chief Secretary visited the DHQ Hospital and inquired after the students fainted due to dengue spray. He assured that stern action will be taken against those responsible for the incident.
