Defense Day ceremony held at a local school to pay tribute to the martyrs

Lahore: A graceful ceremony on the occasion of 50 years of Defense Day was held the other day at Major Qaiser Mahmood Shaheed Higher Secondary School Dhoke Kasib, a suburban village of Mandi Bahauddin in the honor of Shuhada of armed forces.

The ceremony was attended by relatives of martyrs from the area, students and teaching staff.  Major (R) Sher Gondal was the chief guest. Veterans of September 65 and 71 Wars Capt Lal Khan, Subedar Gulam Ali Dhoter and Nk Mukhtar Virk were also present.

Speaking on the occasion, Sher Gondal paid homage to martyrs and Ghazis who fought and gave life sacrifice for defence of the country. He praised the whole nation for demonstrating complete unity and backing armed forces during wars.

He said 6 Sep refresh our memories of exemplary national spirit and enthusiasm which raised morale of officers and jawans to fight enemy with velour and unprecedented courage to foil nefarious designs of the enemy for conquering our land. Capt Lal Khan in his speech gave eye witnessed account of events of his unit in 65 and 71 wars and thrilled the students who raised slogans of Allah o Akbar Pakistan Zindabad, Armed forces Zindabad. Sub Ghulam Ali who was in an infantry unit during 71 War in the then East Pakistan narrated war events. He said he led fighting patrols in enemy area and with the grace of God always returned to unit with success.

Meanwhile the students delivered speeches on 65 war and paid tributes M M Alam and Aziz Bhutti and other. They said M M Alam and Aziz Bbutti were national heroes and the nation would always feel proud of their bravery and soldierly performance. Earlier Principal Ch Abdul Aziz Gujar in his introductory speech said wars are stories of bravery and valor of soldiers mixed with miseries as well. However, he said when existence of a nation is threatened great nations fought against the attacker and aggressor with full strength to defeat his attempt.

He said in Sep War.  the enemy violated our borders and entered stealthily to occupy Lahore and Sialkot. Our officers and jawans rose to the occasion and fought them back with exemplary courage using tactics and weapons with skills. The nation exhibited exemplary national spirit and supported the armed forces thus boosting their morale. It was a great achievement that armed forces – Army, PAF and Navy prevailed upon enemy and defended motherland. Enemy suffered colossal loss in form of aircrafts, tanks and other war material. He said four sons of Dhoke Kasib Major Qaiser Mahmood Sahi, Capt Abdul Qadeer Warriach, Subedar Muhammad Iniat and Sep Imran Naseer laid down their lives in fighting against terrorism.

He said he could proudly say that he was serving in village of Shaheeds and institution that carries name of Maj Qaiser Shaheed. He urged the students to work hard and followed steps of Shaheeds who sacrificed their lives for the sake of integrity and prosperity of the country. At the end of the function collective prayer was held for Shaheeds, Ghazis and for prosperity of the country.
