PAT objects on cabinet meeting after the assassination of Col (R)Shuja Khanzada

Lahore: The secretary general of Pakistan Awami Tehreek Khurram Nawaz Gandapur has asked the Punjab Chief Minister that in the last two years how many times has he called a cabinet meeting to discuss the law and order situation of the province. He said why has he suddenly remembered to call a cabinet meeting only after a provincial minister was killed in a suicide attack and why was this not done when ordinary citizen died at the hands of the police.

While discussing the present political situation of the province with party leaders soon after his arrival from abroad on Monday the PAT secretary general said that for the Sharifs’ only their security is supreme and for that over 2000 police officials are deputed and the whole of the Sharif family only moves in bulletproof vehicles. He said the Sharifs’ spared one bulletproof vehicle for the provincial minister who was responsible for the implementation of the National Action Plan, he would have been alive today.

Talking about the Kasur child abuse scandal the PAT secretary general said that the people of Kasur have no faith in the government-appointed Joint Investigation Team the same way that the opposition parties do not have any faith in such JITs. He said there is no department under the present rulers that can be relied upon. He demanded that the false cases registered against the innocent people of Kasur who were protesting against the police apathy must be withdrawn. He said those police officials who registered these false cases should be proceeded against in a court of law.

The provincial president of PAT Basharat Jaspal prayed that the new Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Pakistan will ensure that all the SC decisions are implemented and the upcoming Local Bodies elections are conducted in an orderly manner because the not holding of the LB polls will be gross violation of the Constitution. He further prayed that the new CJP will also ensure that justice is served in the Model Town tragedy and in the Kasur child abuse incidents.
