Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has directed that relief activities should be continued in flood-hit areas and all necessary facilities be provided to the affectees staying in relief camps. He said that digital image of losses to crops and houses in flood-hit areas should be benefitted. He said that the survey of losses should be complete and comprehensive in all respect so that no deserving person should be deprived of his right.
The Chief Minister said that all precautionary measures should be completed in view of water situation in River Satluj. He directed that safe evacuation of people residing in villages of Kasur alongside river bank should be ensured and pre-warning system should be fully benefitted.
He issued these directions during video conference with members of Cabinet Committee on Flood present in various districts, divisional headquarters and Civil Secretariat, here today. The meeting reviewed in detail relief activities, protective arrangements and present flood situation.
Addressing the meeting, Shahbaz Sharif said that survey has been started for compensation of losses in flood affected areas. He said that survey of losses should be carried out on the pattern of previous year. He said that satellite image before the arrival and after receding of water in flood-hit areas will testify the transparency of survey. The Chief Minister said that no effort will be spared for rehabilitation of flood affectees. He said that assistance will be provided in the light of survey of losses and right will be provided to the deserving at every cost. He said that 12 water filtration plants have been provided to the affectees in flood-hit areas of Rajanpur.
Shahbaz Sharif directed that every necessary step should be taken keeping in view the weather situation of coming days. He said that a vigilant eye should be kept on the flow of water in rivers. He said that Cabinet Committee on Flood should review the relief activities and precautionary measures regularly.
