Lahore: Islamabad XI defeated EME Football Club by 6-5 and won the Independence Day Under-14 Football Cup at EME Football Ground on Saturday.
Director General Sports Punjab Usman Anwar, who was the guest of honour on this occasion, distributed prizes among the prominent performers.
DG SBP Usman Anwar, on this occasion, praised the young footballers and said that they have bright future ahead of them. “It’s mere a glimpse of immense talent that we have in Pakistan. Our country has been quite fortunate to have plenty of potential in various fields. We just need to groom our talented players professionally,” he added.
DG SBP expressed his hope that these young players will earn several laurels for the beloved country. “That time is not far when Pakistan’s passionate youth will be considered among the leading sportsmen of the world,” he maintained.
Islamabad team struck four goals in the first half and maintained pressure on their opponents throughout the match. Abdullah Haleem netted four goals while Bilal Gardaizi and M Ghazafar contributed one goal each for the winning team. For EME team, Hamza Jawad and Mudassar scored three and two goals respectively.
