Pakistan Pediatric Association condemns the misbehaviour of misdirected doctors

Lahore: The Executive Committee of Pakistan Pediatric Association (Punjab) held an emergent meeting on Monday 10th August 2015 to show solidarity and discuss situation arising from an unfortunate incidence of Saturday 8th August 2015 at Pediatric Department, Mayo Hospital/KEMU Lahore.

The house strongly condemned the misbehaviour of some misdirected doctors that crossed all limits of decency against the senior most and a very humble Professor & Head of Pediatrics Prof Akmal Laeeq. The executive committee expressed its full support and solidarity to the respectable teacher and other faculty members in upholding the discipline and merit.

The Executive Committee observed that this is not the first time that faculty members are harassed by such miscreants. Members expressed that such acts of trade unionism are not only bringing bad name to the profession but are also discouraging to the capable physicians and teachers to continue serving in public sector medical institutions.

The executive committee of PPA Punjab demands that strict and prompt disciplinary and legal action should be taken against those responsible for this heinous act. In this regard the hospital administration, Vice Chancellor’s Office, Health Department Punjab and Chief Minister Punjab should realize the gravity of situation which will eventually lead to complete destruction of medical institutions and that concrete steps should be taken to stop any such happening in the future.
