Lahore: The Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) marked Anti-Dengue Day on Sunday by organizing public awareness activities and preventive measures for Dengue eradication in all Districts of Punjab. In this regard, all offices of Punjab Emergency Service across the Punjab were remained open on Sunday and rescuers conducted dengue awareness walks from all rescue stations to sensitize public about dengue virus. The rescue teams visited shops and residential areas to check and highlight breeding areas for dengue mosquitoes and preventive measure against it.
The Director (Admin), Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) Brig. (r) Dr. Arshad Zia reviewed dengue arrangements and activities here in a meeting held at Rescue 1122 Headquarters. The meeting was attended by Deputy Director (P&D) Faheem Ahmed Qureshi; DD (HR) Dr. Fowad Shahzad Mirza, DD (Operations) Ayyaz Aslam and other in-charges of different wings of Rescue Service whereas the District Emergency Officers of Punjab were taken on board through video conference, who shared their experiences and activities in their relevant districts.
Director (Admin) Dr. Arshad Zia also reviewed pictorial data of all districts regarding anti-dengue campaign and awareness messages displayed on emergency vehicles & Rescue Stations across the Province. He also issued directions that cleanliness should be ensured throughout the year and anti-dengue measures should be taken on periodical basis so that we could lead towards dengue free society. He further directed all station coordinators to ensure cleanliness of rescue stations; emergency vehicles, ensure removal of fallen leaves and removal of waste material may be carried out in all the offices/ rescue stations.
The participants of the meeting briefed the Director (Admin) that awareness activities have been conducted in all districts, which include dengue awareness walks in collaboration with City District Government, awareness seminars for community and preventive measures. The District Emergency Officers also informed the Chair that cleanliness measures have been executed at all Rescue Stations, office premises, water holding equipment, containers and places to ensure that no stagnant water is left which may cause Dengue proliferation. The Chair was briefed that rescue field staff is voluntarily and proactively providing services of Dengue Larvae detection after training by entomologists. This staff has been continuously working for identification of vulnerable points/ sites of Dengue Larvae breeding under supervision of entomologist of concerned areas.
