Chief Secretary Punjab orders removal of illegal cattle markets

Chief Secretary  orders removal of illegal cattle marketsLahore: Chief Secretary Punjab Khizar Hayat Gondal has directed all Divisional Commissioners to take action against illegal cattle markets and get them removed immediately.

He was presiding over a meeting on illegal cattle markets in the province, here at Civil Secretariat on Sunday. The Chief Secretary also reviewed progress on establishment of cattle market management companies at divisional level.

Addressing the meeting, the Chief Secretary said that establishment of cattle market management companies would help improve livestock sector and directly benefit the livestock farmers. The Chief Secretary directed that recruitment process for cattle market management companies be completed at the earliest so that these could start working.

Commissioner Abdullah Sumbal informed the meeting that cattle market management company has started working in Lahore division. Local Government Department briefed the meeting about the cattle market management companies. The meeting was told that nine new cattle markets would be set up while Lahore, Multan, Layyah, Jhang and Gujranwala would have model cattle markets. A new cattle market in Sheikhupura has been inaugurated whereas work on another in Faisalabad would be completed soon. The Chief Secretary also reviewed flood situation through video link and issued necessary directions to Divisional Commissioners.

The meeting was attended by Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Livestock Arshad Jutt, Afzal Khokhar MNA, Secretary Home, Secretary Livestock and other officers.
