Counter Terrorism Force will be the opening of new era in the history of Punjab Police: Mushtaq Sukhera

CM PUNJAB Shahbaz SharifLahore: In order to crush the terrorism from the province and fight with this curse in all its manifestations including sectarianism, extremism leading to militancy, induction and modern training of Counter Terrorism Force (CTF) in CTD will be the opening of new era in the history of Punjab Police.

This was stated by Inspector General of Police Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera, while addressing the 3rd batch of corporals at Elite Training Police Center Bedian, Lahore. Chief Minister Punjab, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif was the chief guest on this occasion. Chief Secretary Punjab, Khizer Hayat Gondal, Home Secretary Punjab, Azam Suleman Khan, Addl: IGP Special Branch, Punjab, Dr. Arif Mushtaq, Addl: IGP Training, Capt. (R), Usman Khattak, CCPO Lahore, Capt. (R), Amin Wainse, Addl: IGP CTD, Rai Tahir, DIG Elite, Muhammad Tahir, DIG Operations Lahore, Dr. Haider Ashraf, CTO Lahore Tayyab Hafeez Cheema and other senior police officers were also present in the ceremony.

The 3rd batch of 332 corporals was included 298 male and 34 were female. With the passing out of 3rd batch of corporals, the training process of all 1500 corporals have been completed so far. The first two batches already have been posted in fields after successful completion of their training. IGP further said that the CTD police stations are operational in Punjab and in these police stations 141 cases have been registered. He said that CTD also arrested 16 most hardened terrorists, 84 facilitators of these terrorist and 41 Hate Speakers. He also said that heavy quantity of explosive material and weapons have been recovered by the CTD. IGP said that these corporals are delivering very professionally and this is because of their efforts, 175 high profile terrorism cases have been transferred from district police to CTD police stations among which 10 cases have been traced.

IGP said that with the cooperation of PITB, CTD teams have completed the task of geo-tagging of seminaries. He said that the other provinces are following the policies of Punjab Police’s CTD Department. He said that now the survey and geo-tagging process of mosques and other holly places will be started very shortly.

Mushtaq Sukhera appreciated the Chief Minister Punjab for providing ample funds for enhancing the capacity building of CTD. He said that the lands have been allotted to all districts for establishing the CTD offices.

The PPO further said that the force has been trained with the progressive and modern methodology and they were determined to weed out the terrorism and also were trained to meet multidimensional challenges of terrorism. He said that they were given the special training in three areas including gathering of intelligence information, conducting special operations, interrogation the targets involved and investigation of terrorism cases. He said that these corporals are enable to serve the department on 24/7 basis.

Mushtaq Sukhera further said that the standard training period for the corporals was of 9 months, which included 7 months of common training program and two months of special training program including eight latest training modules, added the IGP.

Later, IGP presented the traditional shield to CM Punjab, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif.
