Punjab to simplify the system of payment of taxes and dues

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif presided over a high level meeting here today in which various proposals were reviewed for simplifying the system of recovery and payment of taxes and dues.

Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said that immediate steps are essential for facilitating the people in the payment of taxes and dues. He said that the system of recovery and payment of taxes and dues will have to be simplified for increasing revenue.

The Chief Minister issued instructions for setting up a joint committee comprising senior officials of National Bank of Pakistan and Punjab government and directed that the committee should submit recommendations within two months for simplifying the system of payment of taxes and dues. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, the government of Pakistan Muslim League-N is moving towards strengthening of economy.

He said that the confidence of local and foreign investors has been restored and investment has been increased in the country.

Governor State Bank Ashraf Mahmood, President National Bank of Pakistan Syed Ahmad Iqbal Ashraf, President Bank of Punjab Naeem-ud-Din Khan, Provincial Minister Finance Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, Chief Secretary, Senior Member Board of Revenue and concerned authorities attended the meeting.
