Chief Secretary Punjab Khizar Hayat Gondal visits Tajpora Ramzan bazaar

CS PunjabLahore: Chief Secretary Punjab Khizar Hayat Gondal has directed that like Ramzan bazaars availability of quality eatables at fixed price be ensured in open market as well. He issued this direction during his surprise visit to Tajpora Ramzan bazaar on Sunday. The chief secretary appreciated the performance of DCO Lahore Capt (r) Muhammad Usman, other officers and officials for best arrangements in Tajpora Ramzan bazaar saying that efforts of district administration regarding arrangements in Ramzan bazaar are praiseworthy. He also asked DCO Lahore and other staff to continue working with the same spirit.

The Chief Secretary said that the provincial government paid special attention to arrangements in Ramzan bazaars so that benefits of Ramzan package could reach people. He said that all possible steps are being taken to ensure availability of daily-use commodities at subsidized rates. The Chief Secretary also interacted with consumers and asked them about the quality and prices of commodities. DCO Capt (r) Muhammad Usman told the chief secretary that 27 Ramzan bazaars were set up in the city. He said that administration of all towns kept strict check on the supply, quality, and prices of daily-use items to provide relief to masses.

Also Sunday, the chief secretary visited PDMA head office, Harbunspura warehouse and WASA headquarters to review the arrangements for dealing with possible floods and monsoon rains. He said that protection of life and property of people is the prime responsibility of the government. He directed the authorities to immediately remove encroachments along banks of drains and nullahs. He also ordered the PDMA DG to complete recruitment process as soon as possible. PDMA DG gave detailed briefing about the preparation to deal with any eventuality in case of floods. He said that the PDMA has 15000 tents, 21000 blankets and 20000 plastic mates in warehouse. During visit to WASA headquarters, the chief secretary expressed satisfaction over the arrangements to cope with monsoon rains. He, however, directed that strict implementation of plan be ensured. He also ordered MD WASA to make special arrangements for draining rainwater from low-lying areas and keeping all water pumps and other equipment functional during monsoon rains.
