Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League (PML) President and former Prime Minister Ch Shujat Hussain attended funeral prayers of former MNA and Minister of State in Muslim League Govt Ghias Ahmad Mela in his village Mela district Sargodha today.
Responding to questions from media afterwards, Ch Shujat Hussain said that MQM leader Altaf Hussain should immediately approach the British court like we had won the case in 1991 against London’s esteemed newspaper “Guardian” on filing case against publication of wrong news. He said newspaper Guardian which is in no way less in importance as compared to BBC had published wrong news against for getting banks loans written off, on which we had filed a case in a British court and the newspaper had on its front page denial of its own story and an apology to our entire family and it had to pay all expenses of the case.
Ch Shujat Hussain said that during premiership of Nawaz Sharif, BBC had broadcast a story about him (Nawaz Sharif) and Ishaq Dar indulging in money laundering on which he had advised Nawaz Sharif to approach the court if he had not done money laundering but he had not heeded to my advice and not approached the court. Ch Shujat Hussain said now his advice to Altaf Hussain is that he should immediately file case against BBC to prove his innocence so that ambiguity against him ends because it will be very difficult for BBC to prove a wrong story in the court.
Earlier, emotional scenes were witnessed during funeral prayers of Ch Ghias Ahmad Mela, hundreds of women of the area were crying and weeping loudly. Ch Shujat Hussain remarked that such a big funeral prayer may not have been held in the area previously.
Ch Shujat Hussain met deceased’s father, sons and General (R) Saleem Mela and offered his heartfelt condolences to them. He declined to have last glimpses of the deceased and said that he would like to keep same face in his heart and thought who was with him for many years as a colleague and friend.
Dr Khalid Ranjha also accompanied Ch Shujat Hussain in the funeral prayers.
