CS orders for setting up a committee to evolve policy for recruitment

Chief Secretary Punjab Khizar Hayat GondalLahore: Punjab Chief Secretary Khizar Hayat Gondal has ordered setting up a committee to formulate new policy for recruitment in government departments.

The committee will prepare recommendations whether the recruitment would be made on regular basis or contract. He was presiding over a meeting of Administrative Secretaries held at Conference Room of Chief Secretary’s Office here on Wednesday.

The meeting discussed, in detail, steps for resolving problems of overseas Pakistanis, implementation of job quota for special persons, opportunities of foreign investment in the province and other matters.

The Chief Secretary directed all departments to extend full cooperation to Punjab Overseas Pakistanis Commission for resolving problems of Pakistanis living abroad. He said that overseas Pakistanis are an asset for the country; their problems should be resolved on priority basis. He ordered setting up a committee comprising Senior Member Board of Revenue, Chairman Planning and Development Department, Secretaries of Finance, Services and Regulation departments to prepare recommendations regarding mode of employment in government departments. He directed the secretaries to ensure implementation of job quota for special persons and complete the recruitment process as early as possible. He also ordered early disposal of pension cases and departmental inquiries.

On recommendation of Punjab Board of Investment and Trade, the Chief Secretary directed the departments to identify the areas where foreign investment can be made. The meeting was also briefed on issuance of direct show-cause notice to the accused under PEEDA Act, online publication of substantive and delegated/subordinate legislation, progress regarding disposal of delayed pension cases and issuance of retirement notification.

The participants of meeting offered Fateha for former federal secretary Shehzad Hassan Pervaiz and presented a condolence
resolution. Those among present were: Chairman of Planning and Development Department, Secretaries of different departments including Law, Local Government, Finance, Education, Information, Regulation, Services, Social Welfare, and Special Education, representatives of Punjab Overseas Pakistanis Commission and Punjab Board of Investment and Trade.
