Masses to cooperate with the cops on Ramadan Duty: IGP Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera

IGP Mushtaq Ahmad SukheraLahore: In order to provide security and a peaceful environment to the citizens during the holy month of Ramadan, particularly during the timings of Sehr-o-Aftar and Taraawi, a comprehensive security plan and its implementation strategy has been finalized by Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera today.

Under this plan the security deployment will be operational a day earlier before starting Ramadan and will remain operational till the last day of Eid-ul-Fitr.

During the month, as many as 75628 officers / officials of Punjab Police, Traffic Police, Police Volentiers and Private Security Guards will remain on duty to protect the 29632 mosques, 3766 Imam Bargahs, besides, important buildings, banks, jewler shops, Ramadan bazars, important markets, bus terminals and taxi stands. 200 walk through gates will be installed at all exit and entry points of the cities across Punjab including mosques and Imambargahs, for which 12197 metal detectors will be used by the security officials for search purposes.

In order to maintain the flow of traffic as very smooth, partularly around the areas of Ramadan Bazars all traffic officers and wardens will discharge their duties according to the final secutiy plan for which they already have been briefed about. Only in metropolitan Lahore for traffic management of 27 Ramadan Bazars, 108 traffic wardens, 54 patroling officers under the supervision of 8 DSPs will remain on duty, whereas, CTO Lahore, Tayyab Hafiz Cheema will directly monitor the traffic plan.

Meanwhile, IGP Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera in his official statement appealed to the public to extend their cooperation with the deployed duty officials so that the Ramadan Security Plan prepared for their security could be implemented in its true letter and spirit.
