Lahore: The delegation of position holder students has left for study tour to Europe under the flagship programme of Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif. Including Punjab, position holders from all over the country will visit 22 universities of UK, Sweden and Germany.
Provincial Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan saw the delegation off at Lahore Airport.
While addressing the students and their relatives, the Minister said that toppers are real ambassadors of Pakistan. He said that Pakistan is facing multiple challenges like inflation, unemployment, loadshedding and terrorism whereas education is the best remedy for all these problems. He said that allocation of 27 percent amount of budget for education sector is manifestation of this fact that provision of quality education is top priority of Punjab government.
He said that new schools, colleges and universities would be set up during next financial year whereas missing facilities would be provided in already existing educational institutions. He said that Chief Minister Punjab has set a tremendous tradition to present guard of honour to position holders. He said that notification regarding tax on internet services had been issued but Chief Minister got it cancelled saying that students fulfill their educational needs through internet.
He said that the students are future of Pakistan and they have to work hard to improve positive image of the homeland. He said that talented students would also be given opportunity to get education from renowned universities of the world on government expense.
Guard of honour was presented to position holders by a contingent of police on this occasion.
