Four billions will be spent to make cities safe:Shuja Khanzada

Shuja KhanzadaLahore: Provincial Home Minister Col. (R) Shuja Khanzada has said that government is implementing the programme of making the province crime free speedily and this phase is being started from provincial metropolis under which four billion rupees have been allocated for Safe City Programme.

He said that under this programme, modern equipments will be purchased for the maintenance of law and order and it will become possible to monitor important roads of the city through cameras and besides identification of law breakers and miscreants, they will be arrested without wasting any time.

He expressed these views while talking to media-men regarding the budget, here today.

The Minister said that Safe City Programme will be completed in Lahore till December this year and in the second phase, it will be completed in Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan and Gujranwala by 2016. He said that 80 police service centers are being set up at various places throughout the province for ridding the people of traditional thana culture and addressing their problems and complaints in a pleasant manner which will result in prominent improvement in law and order in the province.

Col. Shuja Khanzada said that an amount of Rs. 94.67 billion has been allocated in the provincial budget for imparting training to police officers and officials on modern lines, provision of latest equipments and improvement of police performance through modern technology. He said that the allocations made in the budget will not only help maintain law and order and overcoming terrorism in the province but crime rate will also be reduced to a large extent.
