The Institute for Peace and Secular Studies,Umeed Jawan organizes Peace Mobile Cinema

Peace Mobile CinemaLahore: The Institute for Peace and Secular Studies, in collaboration with Umeed Jawan, successfully concluded a project titled Peace Mobile Cinema: Films for Peace. Films on the theme of peace, tolerance, and harmonious coexistence were screened for over 5000 students in 5 districts of Punjab including Bahawalpur, Lahore, Lodhran, Multan, and Muzaffargarh.

Young boys and girls in remote and rural areas across South Punjab saw films such as Burka Avenger, Chillar Party, and Khamosh Pani with great enthusiasm and interest. These film screenings were followed by interactive discussions that were documented by the IPSS film crew.

This film documents underprivileged children learning important lessons in unity, equality and justice. What we witness on film is a genuine counter extremism effort that focuses on the youth and targets South Punjab – a hot bed of radicalization.Umeed Jawan

The Institute for Peace and Secular Studies held an exclusive film screening for the media based on the Mobile Peace Cinema: Films for Peace project on June 11 from 4-6 PM at Farhan Hall, Ambassador Hotel, Lahore.

The event was well attended by journalists including I.A. Rahman and Hussain Naqi. The film was appraised as a concrete step in the right direction to achieving a peaceful country free of terrorism, radicalization, and violent extremism. This film spells hope for the future of Pakistan.
