Provincial Zakat Council releases Ramzan & Eid grant, educational scholarships

Chairman Province Zakaut CouncilLahore: Provincial Zakat Council while giving approval to the release of 11 crore 55 lakh and 65 thousand rupees as Ramzan & Eid grant, educational scholarships general and educational scholarships for religious seminaries has directed all district chairmen zakat committees to immediately provide these amounts to deserving persons and submit report within a week.

This was decided at a meeting presided over by Chairman Provincial Zakat Council Justice (R) Hassan Akhtar, here today. Secretary Zakat & Usher, Habib-ur-Rehman Gillani, Administrator Zakat Punjab Muhammad Yousaf Butt, Council Members Hafiz Fazal Rahim Ashrafi, Hafiz Zubair Ahmed Zaheer, Saeed Ahmed Ansari, Tanvir Kausar, Iffat Liaqat (MNA), Muhammad Shabir Bhatti, Section Officer, Majid Chidhar Section Officer, Muhammad Nasrullah Khan Chidhar Section Officer, representatives of Secretary Local Government & Community Development, Finance and Social Welfare Department attended the meeting.

According to the details, approval has been given to eight crore 99 lakh, 26 thousand and 916 rupees as Ramzan & Eid grant at Rs. one thousand per deserving person, one crore, 82 lakh, 79 thousand and 56 rupees for 3496 male and female students studying in 107 educational institutions of 19 districts of Punjab whereas 73 lakh, 59 thousand, 444 rupees for 3487 male and female students of 36 religious seminaries of five districts.

Provincial Zakat Council directed all divisional and district officers to ensure provision of financial amounts to deserving persons on time throughout the province and added that strict action will be taken against officers and officials showing negligence in this regard. Provincial Zakat Council approved nomination of Sajid-ur-Rehman son of Anwaar-ur-Rehman as Chairman District Zakat Committee Rawalpindi and members District Zakat Committee of district Layyah.
