Security to be tightened at bus stands :Bilal Yasin assures the transporters

Lahore: Provincial Minister for Food, Bilal Yasin has said that government has decided make foolproof security of passengers at bus stands and public transport. He said that a special strategy has been devised with the collaboration of district administration and transporters in this regard under which special arrangements will be made for the protection of life and property of the passengers. Similarly, security system of bus stands will be improved and strict measures will be taken for the security of masses at bus stops, he added.

He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting of a representative delegation of transporters and transport organizations at committee room of Civil Secretariat, here today. Secretary Transport Shaukat Khan and RTA were also attended the meeting.

Secretary Transport told the meeting that awareness is being created among the people through special counters regarding protection against dengue and polio at bus stands and public transport while pamphlets are also distributed among the passengers in the buses. He said that special care of cleanliness and comfort of passengers is being taken at bus stands and all transporters are extending complete cooperation for implementation of government measures. He appealed to the transporters and representatives of transport organizations to increase security arrangements for the protection of life and property of the passengers and no effort should be spared in this regard. He said that walk through gates and metal detectors have been provided at bus stands and bus addas while CCTV cameras have also been installed.

Transporters informed the Minister that due to rush of motorcycle rickshaws, rickshaws and tongas, any incident can occur therefore traffic police should play its role for ending rush and maintain smooth flow of traffic.

Bilal Yasin assured that district administration and traffic police will be activated for maintaining smooth flow of traffic at rush places so that terrorists cannot succeed in their nefarious designs. He asked transporters to pay special attention to security in order to avoid any incident of terrorism. He said that transporters have always extended cooperation to the government and he is sure that they will continue to do so in future for the protection of life and property of passengers.
