Crackdown is continuing against selling of meat of dead, sick and weak animals:Arshad Jatt

Khawaja Ahmad Hissan with Arshad Jatt 10-4-14Lahore: Special Assistant to Chief Minister Punjab on Livestock Muhammad Arshad Jatt has said that crackdown is continuing against those selling meat of dead, sick and weak animals in the province. He said that teams comprising officers of Livestock and District Governments destroyed 289320 kg substandard meat and arrested 2500 persons involved in this heinous business and 2000 cases were registered. Similarly, a fine of one crore 56 lakh and 9000 rupees was also received, he added.

He said this while talking to media men, here today. Narrating the details, Arshad Jatt said that on the direction of Chief Minister Punjab, Livestock Department has speed up action against those selling substandard, dead and haram meat. He said that Livestock Department has also accelerated operation against those selling of donkey meat so that the sale of haram and substandard meat could be checked. Arshad Jatt said that officers of Livestock Department with the help of district governments have evolved a comprehensive strategy for eliminating this heinous business on permanent basis and those selling unhygienic meat will not escape punishment.
