JI speaks on death sentence of Mursi

JI on MursiLAHORE: Addressing a huge rally condemning the death sentence announced to former Egyptian President Dr Muhammad Mursi and his colleagues, in the Punjab capital  Sunday, Jamaat e Islami Secretary General Liaqat Baloch, said that the so-called Egyptian court’s verdict was a clear violation of international law, the UN charter and democracy.

Thousands of people, including large number of women, joined the rally in scorching heat to express complete solidarity with the Akhwanul Muslimoon being targeted by the Egyptian military ruler and his foreign masters.

Liaqat Baloch said that the people of Pakistan stood by Dr Mursi and his colleagues in this hour of trial and they were ready for a Million March at the call of the Ameer, JIP, Senator Sirajul Haq on the issue.

The JIP Secretary General impressed upon the Saudi leadership that the Islamic movements were their natural allies and none of the secular and anti Islam forces would come to their ( Saudi’s) help. He said that it was only from the Muslim world that Saudi Arabia had got a positive response that it would stand by the kingdom for the security of Islam’s holiest shrines.

He said the Muslim world expected Saudi ruler King Salman to step forward for the solution of the problems of the Islamic world. He said if the Islamic movement of Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Turkey and Iran joined hands, the issues of Palestine and Kashmir could be solved without much delay.

Liaqat Baloch called upon the Pakistan government and the Muslim rulers to break their silence against tyranny and rise against the dictatorial decision of Egyptian military ruler Gen, Sisi, and his courts otherwise the colonial powers would go ahead with their designs to disintegrate the Muslim states oen after the other.

He said that during one year period, Dr Mursi had formulated an Islamic and democratic constitution for his country but Israel was not ready to accept a state in Egypt that could support Palestine. He said that the US and Europe only verbally objected to Gen Sisi military coup but never supported Egyptian people’s democratic rights. He said the military dictator had massacred thousands of innocent men and women of the country but the world conscience and even the Muslim states kept quite. However, he said that imprisonments and executions could never crush the Islamic movements.

Addressing the rally, JI deputy chief, Hafiz Muhammad Idrees said that the Pakistan’s President and Prime Minister should have raised their voice in support of Dr Mursi like the Turkish Premier but they had failed to do that due to cowardice.,
