PISF would hopefully resume in August:Usman Anwar

PISF would hopefully resume in August -Usman AnwarLahore: Director General Sports Punjab Usman Anwar has said that Zimbabwe tour was on, though there were some diplomatic issues yet Zimbabwe team will tour Pakistan as per set schedule.

“Our arrangements to host Zimbabwe team are more than satisfactory and we once again assure them foolproof security and hope they will visit Pakistan as per schedule and help us in reviving international cricket here,” said Director General Sports Punjab Usman Anwar while inaugurating the ‘Sports Reporters Room’ here at the National Hockey Stadium on Friday.

Addressing the sports journalists, the SBP DG revealed that the activities of Punjab International Sports Festival (PISF) would hopefully resume in August. “We are quite determined to complete the PISF event with even bigger participation of the countries,” he added.

He said sports has been major force behind the present day civilized face of humankind and keeping that factor in notice Punjab government was emphasizing on the growth of sports. “The Sports Board Punjab (SBP) is already committed towards development of sports which is the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif and we will further continue working on this great cause to provide our youth terror-free and healthy environment and sports facilities. Media has also a great role in the promotion of sports across the province, so to acknowledge their services, we have decided to provide them with modern facilities in shape of latest ‘Sports Reporters Room’ and I hope it will assist them in performing their tasks aptly,” said SBP DG.

“It was a dire need of the hour to provide the best facilities to sports reporters as they used to feel like homeless but with this well-furnished latest facility, now they are happy and can gather here and perform their duties in cooperative and healthy environment,” Usman Anwar said.

“We are committed to provide such modern facilities to other officials as well as players so that they may do their work in a healthier atmosphere. Nishtar Sports Complex is already filled with all kinds of sports facilities, and more such facilities will be inaugurated soon in the premises of the sports board,” DG Usman Anwar concluded.

Later, all sports reporters thanked the DG SBP and appreciated this significant step for the benefit of sports reporters.
