NCJP condemns attack on Ismaili community in Karachi

Lordship Bishop Joseph ArshadLahore: National Commission for Justice and Peace (NCJP), a Human Rights body of the Catholic Church strongly condemns the attack on Ismaili community in Karachi today May 13, 2015. As per the reports 6 unidentified assailants on motorbikes opened fired on a bus. 60 to 70 people were on board at the time of attack out of which 47 are dead (elderly men, women and Children) and 24 injured while they were on their way to their worship place (Jamaat Khana).

Chairperson NCJP, His Lordship Bishop Joseph Arshad, National Director, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Yousaf Mani and Executive Director Cecil Shane Chaudhry said in a joint statement that killing innocent people on the basis of their faith is unacceptable. The government should investigate the attack and bring the perpetrators to justice.

While extending their condolences they prayed for the families of the victims that may God give them the strength to bear this irreparable loss, and wished for a speedy recovery of those injured in this gruesome attack.

They demanded from the government both federal and provincial to take serious and effective measures to prevent such atrocities and also pleaded to increase security of all minority groups in Pakistan.
