Lahore: Director Education Monitoring Abdullah Faisal has directed WASA officials to check all tube-wells in the limits of Samanabad Town within two days and immediately repair the leakage of water so that breeding places of dengue larva could be stopped.
He said this while presiding over a meeting of emergency response committee held with regard to eradication of dengue at Samanabad Town, here today. Town Municipal Officer Malik Imtiaz Awan and officers of concerned departments working for eradication of dengue were also present on the occasion. Imtiaz Awan told that two IRS machines have been sent to each union council whereas eight machines have been sent to UC-84 as there are more complaints about dengue larva there. He said that anti-dengue teams had checked 3240 indoor and 2417 outdoor places from May 8 to to-date. He said that dengue larva was found at four indoor places which were destroyed.
Officials of Education Department told that 7-point program has been evolved for inspection of all schools, according to which, cleanliness of schools, holding of zero period, distribution of banners and pamphlets regarding anti-dengue for creating awareness among the students, ban on half sleeves, checking leakage of water in schools, inspection of four schools in a week and two times spray will be ensured in all schools.
Representative of Solid Waste Management Company told that a clean and green project is being started with the cooperation of PHA, under which waste management staff will remove garbage whereas PHA staff will plant saplings. Secretaries of union councils told that they have checked 56 graveyards, 75 junkyards and 58 tyre shops but no larva was found.
