Lahore: Provincial Minister for Food, Bilal Yasin has said that all phases from provision of gunny bags to farmers to procurement of wheat and payments are being monitored. He said that computerized system is working for transparency of all phases and avoiding from any irregularity and online system for addressing complaints. He said that complaint cells are playing their role at district, division and provincial level for addressing the complaints of farmers immediately, he added.
He expressed these views while talking to farmers during his surprise visits to different centres of Okara, Sahiwal, Multan, Rahim Yar Khan and Bahawalpur districts to review the situation of provision of gunny bags to farmers and procurement of wheat at procurement centres during Wheat Procurement Campaign 2015 today.
The Minister paid surprise visit to Akhtarabad centre and Renalakhurd centre, Okara. He took notice of absence of Patwari and non availability of fans for farmers and directed DCO Okara for action. He went to Quaid-e-Abad Sahiwal, PF Centre Khanewal, Steel Silone centre Multan, PF Centre Multan II, PR Centre Lot where labour was in less number. He ordered food officer to increase the labour.
Similarly, at Basti Malook Centre, a person Siddique complained that 28 fake names have been entered into the list of gunny bags, upon which, the Minister ordered DCO Multan Zahid Saleem Gondal for immediate inquiry and said that strict action be taken against the responsible persons. Bilal Yasin also visited Qila Arainan Centre, district Lodharan where less weight of wheat was being mentioned, upon which, he ordered DCO Lodharan Shahid Miyad to take immediate action.
Later, the Minister also visited CR Centre, Noorpur Centre, Channi Goth Centre and other centres at Rahim Yar Khan. He listened to the complaints of farmers and directed DCO Rahim Yar Khan to immediately address their complaints.
Talking to farmers, Bilal Yasin said that all resources are being utilized for forwarding wheat procurement campaign in a transparent manner, facility of farmers and mitigation of difficulties of farmers. He said that foolproof arrangements have been made for purchasing wheat from farmers at fixed rates, provision of gunny bags and payments. He said that Punjab government will leave no stone unturned for the continuity of its policy of transparency and merit.
