Anti-Terrorism Court No.2 of Multan awards imprisonment of 117 years for throwing acid on ex-wife

Court of LahoreLahore: Anti-Terrorism Court No.2 of Multan awarded rigorous imprisonment of 117 years along with fine of rupees 10 lakh to accused Muhammad Amjad for throwing acid on his ex-wife Javedan Bibi and her husband Muhammad Riaz.

According to the spokesperson of Prosecution Department, accused Muhammad Amjad threw acid on his ex-wife and her husband by entering forcefully in their house on December 7, 2014. The accused fled away after the event and seriously injured Javedan Bibi was shifted to the Burn Centre of Nishtar Hospital Multan. Javedan Bibi succumbed to injuries on December 26, 2014 while her husband Muhammad Riaz was seriously injured.

The case was registered against Muhammad Amjad in Raja Ram Police Station, District Multan and the accused was arrested immediately. The case was under trial in ATC-2 Multan where Honourable Judge Sajjad Ahmed Sheikh announced his verdict today. Accused Muhammad Amjad has been awarded rigorous imprisonment of 117 years with Rs.10 lakh fine under Section 302, 324, 326-B of Pakistan Penal Code and 7ATA. It is pertinent to mention here that Deputy Prosecutor General Ashfaq Ahmed Malik represented the state in the case.
