PU ASA expresses concern over LHC decision

Lahore:In response to Lahore High Court’s decision of nullifying appointment of Principal University Law College Dr Shazia Qureshi as professor and dean, Punjab University Academic Staff Association has said that the decision has raised serious concerns among on duty and retired university teachers as all the promotions and appointments since 1998 were made following the same criteria.

PU ASA President Dr Hasan Mobeen Alam, Secretary Dr Mahboob Hussain, Vice President Arts Dr Abid Chaudhry and VP Science Dr Faheem Aftab in a joint press statement have said that the decision had jeopardized the appointments and promotions of around 800 teachers and all the faculty members were worried. It is pertinent to mention here that PU appoints professors in the light of recommendations of foreign subject expert reviewers and Dr Shazia Qureshi was appointed under the same procedure.
