Lahore: A high-profile meeting, under the chairmanship of Director General Sports Punjab Usman Anwar, reviewed the arrangements of upcoming Punjab International Sports Festival (PISF) and Pakistan-Zimbabwe cricket series scheduled to be held later this month. The meeting was held at Conference Room, National Hockey Stadium on Saturday.
AIG Operation, Rommel Akram, DIG Establishment M Nawaz Warraich, Director Security PCB, Col Azam Khan, DSP Gulberg Nasir Mehmood Bajwa, SP Security Capt Liaqat, Pervez Hussain DSP Security, Col Asim Zia, CSO SBP and other top ranked officers attended the meeting.
The participants discussed the security measures, traffic plan, VIP and general public routes, parking and general administrative arrangements thoroughly during the meeting. The participants of meeting unanimously agreed that top level security will be provided to guest teams and best possible administrative measures will be made during the grand sporting activity.
Addressing the meeting, DG SBP Usman Anwar said that Punjab government will go to every extent to provide top standard security to visiting teams for the forthcoming events. “It’s not the first time we are hosting international teams. SBP had already organized major sports events like Punjab Youth Festival and international sports festivals in 2012 and 2014,” he added.
He further said: “In 2012, we invited sports teams from 26 countries in even more tough conditions and then 19 countries sent their athletes in 2014 which were definitely great achievements on the part of Sports Board Punjab. We are quite confident that business activities in the country will get a great boost after such grand international sports activities,” He elaborated.
