CNG sector has been kept closed intentionally :Raja Jahangir Akhtar

Jahangir AkhtarLahore: Chief Organised on Tahreek-e-Bahali-e-CNG Raja Jahangir Akhtar on Wednesday said CNG sector has been kept closed intentionally since six months which has bankrupted hundreds of operators which will not be tolerated any more. We will go to any extent including protest outside Prime Minister House to get our rights, he said while speaking at a demonstration at Karachi Company, Islamabad.

Owners of the CNG stations from Attock, Kalar Syedan, Gujar Khan, Tarnol, Hizro, Chakwal, leaders of the Transport Welfare Association Haji Nawab Malik and Kabir Ahmed Kiani and Vice President ICCI Ashfaq Chatta were also present on the occasion.

Jahangir Akhtar said that the closed CNG outlets are costing over one to two hundred thousand per month which is not viable. He said that CNG stations are closed in Punjab since half year but gas theft has not reduced which indicate collusion between gas officials and industrial sector. The textile sector is major beneficiary of the unholy alliance resulting in theft of gas worth two billion per month in Punjab, he added.

A gas company is dancing on the tune of a banker and a broker to destroy CNG sector by impeding import and distribution of LNG which is unfortunate, he said.

Raja Jahangir Akhtar said that government forced owners of over 95 percent wagons to remove diesel engines to convert to CNG for reducing pollution. Now these public service vehicles are without CNG and compelled to use costly petrol.

At the occasion, a protest was announced at Fateh Jhang on Thursday.
