New CNG body formed to protect rights

APCNGA 001APCNGA Lahore: CNG station owners of Punjab reeling under gas load shedding since six months have formed a new association to strive for their rights and get gas restored so that they could come out of the blue.  

The newly established body, Movement for Restoration of CNG Stations Punjab comprise many CNG operators from different cities of Punjab, said Raja Jahangir Akhtar, chief organiser of the body. He said that all the sectors are getting natural gas but the CNG sector in Punjab which will not be tolerated any more.

CNG operators are at the brink but authorities have turned their back on them which is height of apathy, he added. Gas utilities are harassing CNG operators while authorities have pushed us to the wall putting CNG industry in trouble, he noted.

We will not allow anyone to usurp interests of millions of people and CNG filling stations owners, he said, adding that continued closure of CNG stations cannot be accepted under any circumstances. Poor people are being forced to use imported fuel which is contributing to pollution and enhanced oil import bill.

Jahangir Akhtar said that we have planned to launch protests across Punjab to get our right and in the first leg, we would hold a demonstration at Karachi Company, Islamabad on Tuesday in which transporters would also participate.
