JI seeks vote in return for its sacrifices, services for Karachi

Lahore: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan Chief Senator Siraj-ul-Haq has said that the government had verified 70million SIMs cards through biometric system and there was no reason why it could not adopt the same system for about 2 lakh voters in the constituency of NA-246.
According to the central media cell of the JI, Mansoora, he was addressing a crowded press conference at Idara-e-Noor Haq here on Monday. JI candidate for NA-246 Rashid Naseem, JI Karachi Chief Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, Muzaffar Hashmi, Barjees Ahmed, Central Secretary Information Ameer-ul-Azeem and others were also present on the occasion.
Siraj-ul-Haq said that the Jamaat-e-Islami was not against any party, but it wanted peaceful and prosperous Karachi, where the people can freely continue their business to earn their livelihood. He said that the JI had offered huge sacrifices for the people of Karachi and it was seeking their vote on the basis of its services to them in the past.
He called for issuance of Presiding officers’ list before the polling adding that in the past, workers of a party were appointed Presiding officers at polling stations who facilitated massive digging during polling.
The JI chief said that the JI candidate Rashid Naseem reflected the true sentiments of the people in NA-246; adding that the Jamaat-e-Islami would bag votes on April-23 on the basis of its welfare work.
He said that the history of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) was ot history and it had failed to discharge its responsibilities for ensuring fair and free elections since 1977. However, he said, ECP had no option except to hold transparent by-polls on April-23.
Without naming anyone, the JI Chief said that some terrorists wanted to plunge the port city into darkness as they had the fear that that the election this time would be fair and transparent.
Siraj-ul-Haq said that the uncertain situation of Karachi had compelled the industrialists, businessmen and traders to shift their businesses to Dubai, Malaysia and other foreign countries.
He said that the “city of lights” had witnessed around 300 strikes in a short period of time, adding that these strikes were not on public issues such as water shortage, load-shedding or others but just for political ends.
He said that the MQM had held the entire city hostage for the last 26 years, and encroached upon public lands, community plots, parks and playgrounds for constructing party offices.
Senator Siraj-ul-Haq said that the services of Jamaat-e-Islami leadership were not hidden from anyone, as a network of education centers, medical institutions, roads and other infrastructure was laid during the period of former City Nazim Niamatullah Khan.
On the occasion, the JI Chief welcomed the Chinese President on his visit to Pakistan. He noted that China, despite its huge population, achieved development and prosperity in a short period of time through its honest and sincere leadership.
“Pakistan can also succeed by following in the foot-step of Chinese leadership and wipe out corrupt practices from the country”, he added.
