Lahore: Chief Secretary Punjab Khizar Hayat Gondal has ordered preparing a comprehensive plan to control incidents of collapse of dilapidated buildings and roofs during monsoon rains.
He was presiding over a meeting regarding dilapidated buildings at Civil Secretariat here on Monday. The Chief Secretary directed all divisional commissioners to get conducted an initial survey to identify dilapidated buildings within 15 days. He said that practical measures are being taken to control incidents of building collapse as protection of life and property of citizens is prime responsibility of the government. He said that special steps regarding dangerous-declared buildings should be adopted in the monsoon plan.
The Chief Secretary directed the authorities concerned to prepare suggestions regarding building control and ensure fire safety and emergency exit facilities in buildings. The meeting was attended by Khwaja Ahmad Hassan, DG LDA, Commissioner Lahore, DCO Lahore, DCO Faisalabad, representatives of Rawalpindi, Multan and Gujranwala development authorities and others.
Separately, the Chief Secretary ordered immediate repair of the faulty veterinary mobile units while chairing a meeting of Provincial Steering Committee for implementation of Chief Minister’s Package for Cholistan. He also directed the Health Department to resolve the issue of shortage of lady doctors in DHQ Fort Abbas.
The Chief Secretary said that special measures should be taken for development of livestock in Cholistan as it is backbone of this area. He also ordered the Finance Department to take steps for regularization of SNE posts of Cholistan Development Authority.
