The other provinces are taking inspiration from Punjab:Usman Anwar

Lahore: Sports Board Punjab (SBP) has always played a leading role when it comes to promotion of sports in the country and it’s a big honour for us that rest of the provinces are taking inspiration from Punjab for holding their Horse and Cattle Show and other sports events; this was stated by Director General Sports Punjab Usman Anwar while talking to media persons at National Hockey Stadium here on Saturday.

DG Usman Anwar, referring to Horse & Cattle Show in Sindh, said SBP provided much-wanted inspiration to other provinces of the country to hold their own sports and youth events. “After watching successful holding of Horse & Cattle Show and Punjab National Sports Festival in Lahore, a similar Horse & Cattle Show has also been started in Sindh which is by all means a big success for us,” he asserted. “Khyber Pakhtunkhawa (KPK) is also organizing its Sports Festival in near future after getting inspiration from Punjab”.

It is pertinent to mention here that the sports teams from Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan, Punjab, Islamabad and Azad Kashmir featured in athletics, tug-of-war, kabaddi, cricket, hockey, football and wrestling competitions during the 4-day mega event.

“After observing our successful Punjab Youth Festival and other high-profile events, other provinces are quite eager to follow us”. “We extended sufficient help to Balochistan in holding their Sports Festival and cricket talent hunt scheme in KPK in the past,” he described.

Usman said: “It’s the aspiration of SBP to broaden the sports base not only in Punjab province but in other parts of the country as well. For this purpose, we have extended every possible assistance to other provinces in the past,” he added. He said that Punjab will continue its policy to support backward regions to hold sports events in future.
